Toxic Release Dispersion Modelling with PHAST: Parametric Sensitivity Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
The objective of this study is to carry out a parametric sensitivity analysis of PHAST atmospheric dispersion modelling for an accidental toxic gas release scenario. A methodology is developed and is applied to a nitric oxide gas dispersion scenario. We study the relative influence of uncertainty in independent input parameters (storage conditions, atmospheric variables, release parameters and orographic conditions) on the variation of the model outputs (concentrations in the near and far fields, distance at which maximum concentration is observed and downwind distance where cloud dispersion profile becomes passive). The Fourier Amplitude Sensitivity Test (FAST), a global sensitivity analysis method, is chosen to calculate first-order and total sensitivity indices. These indices provide a measure of both the individual effects and coupled influence of parameters.

The PHylogenetic Analysis with Space/Time models (PHAST) software package consists of a collection of command-line programs and supporting libraries for comparative genomics. PHAST is best known as the engine behind the Conservation tracks in the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) Genome Browser. متن کاملParametric evaluation of 3D dispersion of rockfall trajectories
The capability of evaluating and managing rockfall related risks is largely based on numerical modelling. Nevertheless, the reliability and accuracy of rockfall models is greatly affected by the strong uncertainty and spatial variability which characterise all the relevant parameters. In particular, 3D effects related to the variability of slope geometry and micro-topography play a major role i...

Background and purpose Many efforts have been made to use chemical components as weapons throughout history until the Germans first employed chlorine gas cylinders in April 1915 at Ypres Belgium against French and Canadian soldiers. Leaving 5,000 dead and 15,000 injured, it was the first practical application of chemical agents. The Geneva Protocol in June 1925, which was an attempt to pre...
